Bright Hope House is officially open!
We are delighted to announce that Bright Hope House, Swannington is now officially open!
The charity formally took possession of the building at a handover event on 9th February 2024.
The event was attended by key personal from Bloors Homes, North West Leicestershire District Council, plus staff and trustees. A copy of the full press release with all the details about the generosity that lead to the building of Bright Hope House can be found here Press Release 12th February. We are hoping to announce details of a much grander opening in the Summer (so watch this space!).
In summary, Bright Hope House offers two complementary therapy rooms, counselling rooms, a quiet room, a workshop for hobbies and training / technical facilities. It also has commercial kitchen facilities, a dining room and lounge and a conference room and offices.
The charity is now thrilled to be able to offer our popular day care service for three days a week, where guests can enjoy daily activities and a hot meal at lunchtime. Bright Hope House will also host a wide range of services provided by the charity, such as counselling and complementary therapies plus service offered by partner organisations. Who we support
Bright Hope in North West Leicestershire prides itself on its range of valuable services provided for those over 18 years living with a life limiting illness, or condition that significantly limits the quality of life.
The charity also recognises the vital role of those in caring roles. We strive to ensure support for family members and carers, enabling them to recharge their batteries and take a well-earned break.
Shane has been a guest of Bright Hope since 2019 and is a regular at Ashby Support Café, has a befriender, has had complementary therapies and comes along to the day centre at Bright Hope House. Shane is visually and hearing impaired and can often be seen around Ashby de la Zouch with his assistance dog, Toby.
Shane loves to socialise at the Support Café in Ashby and is a very competitive domino player whilst Toby makes friends with other guests and looks longingly at the cakes on offer!
Being part of the Bright Hope family provides Shane with the opportunity to get out and meet new people.
“Everybody is friendly and everything is well organised. Bright hope makes me full of hope, bright hope!”
How to access our services
Referrals come in from health and social care professionals, members of the public and from carers or prospective guests themselves. We have a ‘single point access’, to assess referrals and allocate them to the most appropriate services. With the exception of Support Cafés, all services are time limited and guests are allocated a set number of sessions over an agreed period of time.
To make a referral for yourself, or someone you represent please complete our simple online referral form which can be found on the top line of our website.
Volunteering at Bright Hope House
A dedicated team of 7 skilled staff and more than 60 volunteers support the charity and its service users.
Jane has volunteered at Bright Hope since February 2024 after applying to volunteer with us in 2023. When we moved to Bright Hope House Jane volunteered her services as part of the Administration Volunteer team. Since this time Jane has been integral part of the Bright Hope team, she has created processes for us to manage our collection boxes in the community and has helped to review our policies and procedures.
Jane previously owned a successful business and brings amazing administration and organisational skills along with a great eye for detail.
Jane loves to support her local community and feels that she can really demonstrate this at Bright Hope. When asked about how she has found volunteering at Bright Hope Jane said, “It’s a friendly and welcoming place everyone is made to feel welcome.”
We are always looking for enthusiastic people to join us as volunteers, so please do get in touch If you would like to get involved with any of our support services. We would also love to hear from anyone else who feels they can offer volunteer support to other essential activities around the day to day running of the centre including managing reception, administration work, housekeeping, gardening, general maintenance and catering to name but a few! As our charity doesn’t receive any statutory funding, we have to work very hard to find proactive and creative ways to raise funds and increase income to the charity through grant applications/ awards, personal donations, community events and business support to ensure the future sustainability of all services.
If you are interested in doing a fundraising event or your company /organisation is able to offer any financial or any other form of support, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please drop an email to: fundraising@brighthope-nwl.org.uk
