Lights of Love 2024 - 1st December 2024

Lights of Love 2024 - 1st December 2024

Another wonderful and amazing Lights of Love was held at the Ferrers Centre, Staunton Harold on Sunday 1st December. The weather was at its best, warm, dry and little wind.

Turnout was magnificent, with around 250 people coming together.  The event, as always was supported by Charnwood Brass, Concordia and Rev Dr Tim Phillips and for 2024, Liz Parle, Town Mayor of Ashby de la Zouch.

This year for the first time, two poems were read out, by Nicky and Angela, both so well received.

As usual there was a moment of silence before the lights on the tree were turned on and quiet gasp as a lovely set of lights decorated the tree.

For many people present it is very special to remember and honour those they love by hanging a tag on the tree, as the names are read out.  There seemed to be more names than ever (almost 200) making the event so very personal.

Rev Dr Tim Phillips delivered a meaningful final word before the last carol was sung, a hearty rendition of ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’.

Our thanks to all the people who helped out at and attended this year’s Lights of Love.

Special thanks to Martin Vaughan for taking such marvellous photos, several can be seen below, with more on our Facebook page.

We look forward to seeing you next year.
