Stewart Shepherd announced as President Emeritus
At our Annual General Meeting, held on Monday 12th August at Bright Hope House, our long-time Chairman and founder member of the charity, Stewart Shepherd opened the meeting and, after welcoming everyone and thanking them for their attendance, resigned as a trustee and Chairman.
Stewart thanked the many people with whom he had worked since the formation of the charity for their work, their support and their dedication over a long period of time. Too many to name, he was grateful to everyone who had made Bright Hope what it is now. The teamwork and effort of so many over the years has resulted in Bright Hope House being open and the charity providing a range of fantastic services to the people of North West Leicestershire.,
Stewart said that the time had come, given the charity’s ambitious future plans, to “pass the baton” to someone else. Laura Mackie was confirmed later in the meeting as the charity’s new Chair (please see separate article for more details on this appointment).
Roy Stobbs, trustee, then very eloquently, announced that on behalf of the trustees, he was inviting Stewart to become President Emeritus; a role that would enable Stewart to still be involved, but without the level of responsibility that he has taken on for so many years.
Everyone in attendance applauded both the sentiment and suggestion. Almost speechless, Stewart thanked Roy and graciously accepted the role.
