Befriending Service

Natalie - Befriending Volunteer
"Bright Hope is special to me as it helps so many different types of people with different needs in the local community. As soon as I walked in I was made to feel welcome by everyone and it’s been a long time since I’ve felt that way. I have loved meeting all the people and enjoy trying to make someone’s else day better. I look forward to helping out more next year. Helping others helps with my own mental wellbeing and being part of something larger than my own world is starting to feel more and more important to me.”
Our Befriending Service offers supportive, reliable relationships through volunteer befrienders for those who would otherwise be socially isolated. You will be matched with a volunteer to develop a friendship based on similar interests.
The results of befriending can be significant. Befriending can often provide a new direction in life, open a range of activities and lead to increased self-esteem and confidence. Befriending can also reduce the need for other services which people may use inappropriately as they seek social contact.
Befriending can offer companionship, emotional support, and a listening ear, it can also support, through encouragement, any interest and hobbies.
